Dead Car / Mt Russell / Dead Car.
Started a bit early perhaps, but the day was supposed to change with a new system coming in from the SW.
First attempt to get out of the valley found broken lift N of Cache Pk. Second looked pretty grim approaching Sorrell Peak at 7500' from the SW. Then it got better. Really improved when reaching the clouds abeam Haiwee Reservoir.
Turned Russell at 17,500.
Nice to cruise along at 16 to 17,000. Lenticulars started forming above the cumulus with approaching moisture from the SW. Had thought of climbing the face of one cu but realised that Sage2 was not activated.
The overcast wasn't bad. Some lift under it. And it seemed to miss the Tehachapi Valley.
Not bad for a 10:15 trailer hook up at home.
