getting out of mva was somewhat blue, marginal and apparently got worse later; about 10K over the mountain, 8K after crossing to the north - but i had reports from AZ2 so knew that it should be working; then just slowly bumping my way over the piutes, and connecting to the clouds NW of kelso - from that point crossed east towards inyokern over the pass and stayed over the crest. Staying more west than usual, and probably more than i should have, but the clouds were mostly good, and apart from one point were i headed straight east since i decided it was getting too risky, going was mostly smooth.
Decided beforehand that 3pm would be turn back; managed to get to mt whitney by that time and turned back. Apart from a point around inyokern where a succession of clouds were bad and i was down to 12K it was pretty smooth, and once i was back to 15K there i was stress free - at that point there were clouds everywhere, and lots of lift in the blue a well.
overall a really nice day, though started much weaker than expected.
