It was a beautiful day, clear, with a light southerly wind. I launched early, and stayed close to the airport. Worked my way finally to just over 4000 msl. The thermals were generally light 1-3 kts so it took me a while to get some altitude. At peak, I headed into the wind to see how far I could go, and if I could connect with any other thermals than the ones close the airport that I had worked. Didn't find anything worth working, so at the end of my gliding range, I turned back to the airport and landed - wanting to not get stuck in traffic going back home. I should have stayed in the air because I got stuck in traffic anyway. I finally had a decent landing and nearly made it back to my hanger. Well a day of flying is certainly better than working - but don't tell my boss that.
