The forecast suggested little or no wave early in the day at Inyokern with wave beginning at the Haiwee Reservoir 60 km north of our launch point and continuing all the way to Minden. The forecast also indicated that the wave field would move south, ending the day between Bishop and Inyokern.

We launched at 7:00 AM under tow and released at 13,000 ft near Haiwee. Heading north, we found weak wave which made it very difficult to gain enough altitude to stay in wave near Mount Whitney where the ridge line is 14,500 feet. After 1.5 hours of struggling we final reached strong lift and continued north to Walker, 50 km south of Minden. We then headed south and had a good run to Inyokern. Heading north again, we reached Mammoth Lakes encountering weaker lift and clouds. We were unable to go directly south because our track was blocked by clouds, so we headed downwind where we found enough lift to get around the clouds and also produce a 165 km triangle. We then headed back to Inyokern, turned north to Bishop, and then back to Inyokern to land just after sunset.

The glider is equipped with FAA approved navigation and strobe lights.
