Fun and interesting wave day. Not terribly strong with SWish winds aloft under 30 knots and most of the wave at a knot or 2 with occasional strong spots of 3 or 4. More of a barely climb at minimum sink speed kind of wave day than haul ass at 120 knots kind of a wave day. No lenticulars but some visible rotor markers here and there. Wave didn't seem to start until above the convective layer which was in the low teens. Tried my typical wave entry with a tow to the west face of the dogskins, ridge soar as high as you can and dive downwind towards Tule. Didn't work though as it seems the wave started too high for that to work. I instead connected with the wave closer to Virginia Peak where I thermalled in what I think was rotor to get into it. Made 2 trips down to the Pinenuts and back with altitude around 15k-17k most of the time. By late afternoon the winds started to die down as predicted and the wave was getting weak and patchy so turned around short of running the Pinenuts the second time around. Ended up with excessive height, so got a little more distance going north and back of Air Sailing to kill altitude. Late in the day there was reasonably thick cirrus but the air still felt reasonably thermic, might have been a fun thermal day a few thousand feet lower than I was too.
