Very nice flight - probably my greatest distance ever - over 500km. Perfect visibility all across Colorado. No real streeting - required more technical flying from thermal to thermal and picking out the better ones - did bring the speed down. Got Pikes Peak, my 6th Colorado 14er :-). Nice convergence line near the end of the flight: the eastern air mass spilled over the divide and met the dry western airmass about 5-8 miles west of the divide - long straight flight at just under 18,000 feet from S to N with curtain clouds to my right marking the moist eastern air and a blue hole to my left marking the dry western air. Textbook convergence. Nice landing in calm conditions followed by a freak gust of 27 mph from the east as I was getting the dolly. Gust lasted about 2-3 minutes, then calmness returned. Just always expect the unexpected.
