Booming day!!! Cloud bases inside class A, plenty of lift at and over 10 knots, negligible winds but plenty of virga and fallstreaks. Launched noonish, earlier than usual this time of year and didn't find much the first 10 minutes or so when I found something reasonable off the N end of the Dogskins that took me up to 10k. Found a good thermal off of nexrad and it just got higher and higher as I headed south to the Pinenuts. By the time I hit the Pinenuts, shortly past 13:00, there was already same virga there, so the N half didn't produce as I'd hoped. From midway the Pinenuts south to Mono Lake it was great, very strong lift, lots of dolphining and the sweet, soothing sound of my Oudie's class A airspace proximity alarm constantly going off. I decided to turn the North Mono Lake turnpoint as opposed to Lee Vining as there was lots of virga there and the air over the lake looked like it had already blown up and the clouds there's useful life was well past it's course. Heading east was a little more challenging with some considerable virga avoidance deviations and a big blue sinky hole I penetrated between Mina and the Tonopah Solar Farm. Afterwards though, the air going in and out of Tonopah was great with little circling required. Found a solid 14 knotter (not a typo and logger confirms) just NE of Mina, I can't remember the last time the averager actually said that. At this point it started getting weaker with clouds disappearing to the north and still aways to go back home. I took a climb up 17.5k near the N edge of the Wassuk range hoping to make a final glide from there, but didn't quite work out. I deviated quite a bit W towards the northern Pinenuts to reconnect with the clouds and lost a bunch of altitude crossing the Yerrington valley, but found a reasonable 5-6 knotter that I took up to 15k just S of Rawe Peak to make a very comfortable and fast final glide. What a day!!!
