I actually wrote a great and very detailed story about this great flight together with Matt Herron, but too tired now to write it again (OLC crashed). Air Sailing, Petersen range, Hallelujah Junction, Truckee, Mount Rose, Washoe Lake, Dayton Valley, Rawe Peak, the Pine Nuts all the way down to Mount Siegel, back up again, jumped the Dayton valley, found little lift there, followed that ridge, jumped the I-80 valley with a lot of sink. Made Virginia Peak at exactly 10,000' so that according to XCSoar and my map range circles I was in range of Air Sailing with a good margin. Great flight together with Matt and his very slippery LS-6. Thanks Matt! Most of the flight was in blue, except at Verdi Peak and Mount Siegel. The cumulus at Mount Siegel was great, although from directly below it looked like a dead cloud (flat, rectangular), From my viewpoint it looked fantastic, with 2 curls at 2 ends of it billowing up and over. Matt raced by, declaring it dead, I took it and got 5 to 10 knots to the highest point of the flight (about 17,000 to 17500'. The cloud that got us home I dare say :) During the whole flight had 1 or more alternates in mind, on the map and in XCSoar> Great flight, views and loved that for most of the flight we were just cruising straight on.
