Third day of team training. The day started out blue, though the conditions quite nicely for a short window of fine soaring. We did a short two hour TAT task: Ridge Soaring --> Tyrone --> Howard Dam --> Ridge Soaring. The turn areas had ten mile sectors. The blue lift was over the ridge and we sort of plodded along.

We practiced exits and entries into the thermals. Noah and I perfected overextending on the exit when ahead in the thermal, so that the lead left at the same time as the trailing pilot. We made good work of the blue thermals thanks to the improved sampling afforded by flying together.

At Altoona, there were a couple cus that developed along with a line over the Alleghany Plateau. We transitioned on over and flew with several other gliders successfully. We made good work of the energy lines, consistently snaking along to mutually stay in the better lift.

Once the line died out, we were on the edge for a final glide back home. One small thermal and it worked out just fine.

Very useful training day, especially in the blue. It is so much nicer flying with a teammate when there are no cu to mark the lift.

Off to Harris Hill for more soaring!

Thanks again Aero Club Albatross and Harris Hill Soaring Corporation for giving us club gliders to train in for the upcoming Junior Worlds.
