4th attempt to complete Diamond distance. Good progress to first TP northeast of Laramie. Turned out to be a good choice based on weather forecast. Then quick return until Estes Park when the sky ahead turned completely blue. The only clouds were on the west side of the divide. Almost abandoned task to fly a cloud street to the west but decided to stick with it. Struggled mightily to move ahead. Thermals were weak, uneven, and most topped out at 13,000 (which was also only about 1,000-2000 AGL). Better lift south of Nederland but still all in the blue. Made 2nd TP but the end of the soaring day was quickly approaching. Long distances between climbs as I headed towards Horsetooth Res, my 3rd TP. Last climb near Lyons then everything to the north shut down under complete overcast. South of Carter Lake I finally decided to let it go, and returned to Boulder. Fun flight. There will be another attempt :-)
