Another attempt to complete a pre-declared 750km task. This one got spoiled by the weather. First raindrops fell on my first climb off tow and it wasn't even 11 am. Still good run to my first TP at Centennial, WY. The direct line to the second leg (the declared TP was Scottsbluff, NE) was blocked by a big rain cell. I detoured around on the south side (a big detour) - you'll see a lot of kinks in the flight trace as I was navigating around virga and rain showers (no lightning though :-). Once I could see a line out to Nebraska I could also see heavy OD over the foothills and was worried about my return... Decided to abandon the task and just make a nice triangle out of my flight. Went further out into the eastern plains (smooth wide thermals, but weak!), then headed back to Boulder. Overcast over the foothills but found one sunny spot that offered a climb allowing me to reconnect and fly towards Mt Evans and make my triangle bigger. Fun day but also glad that I made it home and didn't tempt land-out fate too much.
