Another great October thermal soaring day in Colorado. Released from tow when I saw CX circling ahead and only realized 3 seconds later that he still had his motor running. Struggled for a while to make it to altitude but then it was all sweet soaring from there. Turned at Aspen when the cloud street was extending much further towards Rifle and probably beyond. But it is October and I do feel uncomfortable getting so far away from home when it's hard to know when the day will quit. Then headed back east and found a path across South Park and towards Pikes Peak. Lot's of big blue gaps in this area but there were promising clouds near Woodland Park. Climbed under those clouds to 17,300 ft and got Boulder in Final Glide at MC4 right from there. Good thing because the path north did not look promising at all. Still found a good climb half-way along the way which allowed me to extend the triangle a little further north. Very nice flying with BC, CX, CG, XR, WAY, VW, and others.
