Another great NE blue wave day from Williams. This time the wind was much further from the east and stronger. Max wind speed 80 knots, lighter to the north and as the day progressed. Strong wind on the ground as well. Launched and landed in 30 knots wind. Also a 5000 feet layer of very turbulent air to punch through on final glide against 65 knots headwind.
Released in weak wave over Indian Valley reservoir behind Walker ridge. Took long time to climb to 13k and to penetrate the strong wind to get to the strong Goat wave with a 10 knots climb to 18K. Went north to abeam Eureka (15 miles from Hoopa and 15 miles east of Eureka) and turned around when the wind got lighter and the wave died to the north. Went SW to Hopland between Ukiah and Cloverdale then SE to Napa, back to St Helena and back to Williams. Many thanks to Kempton for the encouragement to explore both days, and to the Williams staff for providing challenging tows on their day off.
