Data processed for analytics purposes (see section Google Analytics below)

We process the above-entitled data for the following purposes:

  • to ensure an unobstructed connection and transfer of data between the web server and your device

to ensure the convenient use of our Website

to analyse system security and stability

for further administrative purposes, including, but not limited to, the detection of attacks and intrusion attempts

the detection of abusive downloading of large data volumes by robots and similar retrieval technology so as to ensure that the use of the Website will be effected only by natural persons in the scope permitted, and that the data basis in total will not be retrieved

The legal basis for the processing is art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. The legitimate interests pursued by us follow from the above-documented purposes of processing.

Furthermore, we use cookies when you visit our Website. For further information on such cookies, see section Cookies below.

Processing in case of visits to the Website with registration and/or submission of flight data

You can create and maintain a user account on the Website, and you can submit or have third persons submit flight data. In the case of such submission, the Controller will process, in addition to the processing described in the section “Processing in case of visits to the Website without registration or submission of flight data” the following data:

  • Such personal data which you, as a user, may submit yourself. This includes in particular, but is not limited, to data you submit when creating and maintaining your user account. We will hereinafter refer to such data as “User Data”. This shall include also data covered by sentence 1 which third persons submit on your behalf. These third persons may only submit your data insofar as you have declared consent with the submission to the third persons.

  • Data contained in flight track information and lists of results, which you submit to the Website (we will refer to this data hereinafter collectively as “Submitted Flights” and “Flight Data”). This also includes data covered by sentence 1 which you do not submit yourself but which third persons submit, with your consent and on your behalf, as Trusted Competitors or which third persons submit on your behalf without registration. These third persons may only submit your data insofar as you have declared consent with the submission to the third parties by appointing them as Trusted Competitors or otherwise.

  • Such personal data which is collected, processed and used automatically while you use the Website after logging into the Website. This includes in particular, but is not limited to, your IP address (see also the explanations below), usage tracking and clickpath tracing, data on searches effected, data submission and modification timestamp data for yourself and third persons, and information which the Website analyses automatically from the Flight Data submitted.

  • Data on the mass download of Flight Data (download of so-called IGC files) which serves to ensure that each user will only download data on 20 flights per calendar day, and that a general download of all data is prevented.

We process the data specified above for the following purposes:

  • The User Data is processed to implement access control for the Website, for contact to and communication with you, and to assign the results you have submitted with you. Your name and the data elements from the user account which are visible in the participant list, as well as all data visible as Flight Data are publicly accessible. Your data of birth is not publicly accessible and is processed, in addition to your name, for the purpose of identifying you.

  • Prior to the publication of Flight Data, the website may advise you that the data submitted may indicate a violation of airspace or otherwise contradict the rules of participation for the contest affected. You may choose to ignore this advice and direct the Website to publish the Flight Data. Do note, however, that a failure by the Website to display such advice does not mean no violation of airspace or breach of the applicable rules of the contest has been effected, and that you carry the responsibility that the Flight Data you may instruct the Website to publish can cause third parties to become aware, in particular, of airspace violations.

  • The Controller may use your contact data for the purpose of transmitting to you notices on changes to the terms of use, the rules applicable to contests, and the process to submit Flight Data which may be applicable to you.

  • From the Flight Data you submit, and in accordance with the rules of contest, there will be ranking lists, map data with your flight paths and comparative data related to other users as well as those data whose generation is necessary in accordance with the rules of contest. The flight parts and the result data so generated will be made available on the Website, either publicly, or subject to specific access restrictions. The data will thus be made available to other users of the Website and to the general public, which includes their indexing by search engines. Do note that this data can be viewed from the Internet in its entirety, including from countries not ensuring a level of data protection comparable to that of the European Union.

  • Your personal data which is not made available publicly on the Website, is accessibly only to our employees and vicarious agents; it is not accessible to other third parties, including sponsors. This applies in particular also to your date of birth, your e-mail addresses and other contact data as well as bank account data, if applicable. We use these data elements to identify you.

  • The data on your use of the Website are used to improve the quality of the user experience for the Website and the telemedia services as well as access control purposes and for the purposes of analysing how the Website is used. This analysis is explained in greater detail in the section “Tracking through Google Analytics”. A part of this analysis is the detection and prevention of misuse, in particular by detecting whether a user or another connecting party attempts to improperly download data or exceeds the amount of downloadable files; for these purposes, in addition to the user name, the IP address is processed when downloading prepared files.

  • Downloaded files not belonging to the account of the user effecting the download are marked by an identifier that provides information on the source of the files, but cannot be used to identify the user downloading the same. Based on your results, and using your personal data, you may be invited to events and conferences.

  • The downloading of IGC files is monitored in particular by processing the IP address, the username and the data downloaded, in such a way as to ensure that each user may only download data on 20 flights per calendar day, and that the collective download of all flights is prevented.

The lawfulness of processing follows from art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 letters b and f GDPR. Our legitimate interests follow from the purposes of processing detailed above
